Rancho de Los Sueños is a family owned working ranch. Owners Lawrence and Barbara Roybal have been raising their huacaya alpaca herd for their luxurious fiber production since 2006. Alpaca fiber, once reserved for members of South American royal families and highest government officials, comes in sixteen natural colors and is crocheted, felted, knitted, and woven into beautiful garments, blankets and rugs.
Barbara completed an Associate degree in Fiber Arts from Northern New Mexico College in May 2014, and applies her art in the disciplines of natural dying, wet-felting, spinning and weaving. She has been studying under a 7th generation master weaver for several years learning the rich Northern New Mexico history of weaving. Homemade items available for purchase include hand-woven scarves, alpaca fiber rugs, woven wall hangings and various southwestern color yarn(s).
We invite you to see these gentle creatures and their beautiful natural fiber scarves, hats and woven rugs, with our ranch visitors. Rancho de Los Sueños Alpacas is located in Northern New Mexico, 17 miles of Santa Fe in the community of Pojoaque on west bound State Rd. 502. (Just ¾ of a mile west of Cities of Gold)
