Rancho de Los Sueños is a family owned working ranch, located on the property that has been owned by the Roybal family since 1938. Owners, Barbara and Lawrence Roybal raise a fiber herd of Huacaya alpacas, maintain the family apple orchard, and raise lavender and honey bees.
Barbara completed an Associates degree in Fiber Arts from Northern New Mexico College in 2014, and applies her art in the disciplines of natural dying, wet-felting, spinning and weaving. She has been studying under a 7th generation master weaver for several years, learning the rich Northern New Mexico history of weaving.
Barbara and Lawrence invite visitors to plan a little extra time at their stop in order to meet the animals up close and personal. Guests will have an opportunity to hand-feed the alpacas and take pictures with these wonderfully docile animals.
Spinning and weaving demonstrations will be held throughout the day. Items for purchase include raw alpaca fleece, hand-carded batts, hand-woven scarves, alpaca fiber rugs, woven wall hangings and yarn.
